Exercise Group

Our Exercise Group is run by Joanne and Gareth who are qualified trainers, you can find out a little more about them on this page.  We aim to help anyone who has been in ICU rebuild their strength and get moving again.

The sessions are FREE for anyone who has been a patient in any ICU, or their loved ones, - they are funded by Critical Care Support Network.

We have a really friendly group and whilst we are on Zoom, there is still plenty of opportunity to chat and members are keen to encourage each other.

Zoom is an app that is free to download and easy to use - we are happy to help you set it up if necessary.

Please get in touch via our Contact Us page if you would like to join the Group.

We invite all new members to an Induction session to allow our trainers to learn about your particular issues and also to allow you to ask any questions and discuss any concerns you may have.

We now have 3 types of classes:

  • A shorter weekly Start Up class for those more recently discharged from hospital or new to exercising.

  • An Improvers Class, twice a week,  which suits the majority of our members as they progress and rebuild strength.

  • A weekly Advanced class for those who have been with us a while and are well on the road to recovery  and are getting ready to return to work or normal life.

Joanne and Gareth have each recorded a video of their

classes - please watch them to find out if you think they would benefit you but remember they are always happy to tell you how to adjust any exercise so that it suits your particular  needs and limitations.  You can also use these videos to exercise at home but we would always encourage you to attend at least one session first so Joanne or Gareth can advise you.

On Wednesday 23 February at 18.30

Gareth Tattum is offering a free Zoom class in return for a donation to CC-SN.

This will be a high intensity body weight workout using basic boxing combinations, and traditional strength exercises.  Great for cardiovascular fitness, toning, improves co-ordination and is a great stress buster.

No equipment needed.  Beginners welcome!
